Recipient Area
The recipient area is the region of the scalp (or other body site) where hair follicles are implanted during a hair restoration procedure. It typically includes the hairline, temples, crown, or any zones of thinning and is assessed for skin quality, existing hair pattern, and scarring before planning treatment.
Surgeons and clinicians consider factors such as vascular supply, skin thickness, recipient-site angulation and density targets to maximize graft survival and create a natural appearance. Proper preparation and postoperative care of the recipient area, along with realistic expectations about growth timelines and possible additional sessions, play important roles in the overall outcome.
