Sapphire FUE
Sapphire FUE is a modification of the standard follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant technique in which the surgeon creates recipient sites using a fine, polished sapphire blade or punch. The harder, sharper sapphire edge produces very precise, consistently shaped incisions that can reduce superficial tissue trauma, allow more accurate angulation and alignment of grafts, and support closer graft placement for improved density in critical areas such as the hairline.
In practice, Sapphire FUE follows the same overall steps as conventional FUE—donor harvesting, graft preparation and implantation—but differs in the instrument used to make recipient slits. Potential advantages include finer incisions, reduced scabbing and quicker superficial healing, but clinical benefits vary and depend largely on the surgeon’s technique and patient-specific factors; risks such as infection, temporary shock loss and scarring are similar to other FUE methods.
