Canthoplasty Cat Eye Fox Eye

Canthoplasty (Cat Eye / Fox Eye)

Canthoplasty (Cat Eye / Fox Eye) is a surgical procedure that alters the lateral canthus—the outer corner of the eyelid—to produce a more lifted, elongated, or almond-shaped eye appearance. The operation can tighten or reposition the lateral canthal tendon, change the slant of the outer eyelid, correct eyelid laxity or asymmetry, and improve both function and the aesthetic contour of the eye depending on the technique used.

Techniques range from less invasive canthopexy (anchoring or tightening the tendon) to more extensive lateral canthoplasty that repositions the canthal angle and surrounding tissues; it is commonly performed with blepharoplasty or brow procedures for a balanced result. Recovery typically involves bruising and swelling for one to two weeks with sutures removed within about a week, while possible risks include scarring, temporary dry eye, asymmetry, under- or overcorrection, and the occasional need for revision surgery.
