Fibrosis Post Lipo Lumps

Fibrosis (Post-Lipo Lumps)

Fibrosis following liposuction, often referred to as post-lipo lumps, occurs when scar tissue and adhesions form in the subcutaneous layer during healing. Patients typically notice firm nodules, tight bands, or areas of dimpling and uneven contour that develop weeks to months after the procedure as the body repairs the treated tissues.

Diagnosis is usually clinical and may be supported by ultrasound to distinguish fibrosis from seroma or fat necrosis; initial management focuses on conservative measures such as manual lymphatic drainage, targeted massage, compression garments, and physiotherapy to soften adhesions. If conservative care is ineffective, options can include image-guided steroid injections or ultrasound-assisted treatments, and in persistent or severe cases a specialist may recommend surgical scar release or limited excision to restore contour.
