Platysma Bands Turkey Neck

Platysma Bands (Turkey Neck)

Platysma Bands (Turkey Neck) are vertical, cord-like bands that appear in the front of the neck when the platysma muscle becomes separated, tightens into visible strips, or when the overlying skin loses elasticity. They are commonly related to aging, genetics, and weight changes and can produce an aged or banded neck contour that may coexist with excess fat or skin laxity.

Treatment depends on severity: mild cases may improve with neuromodulator injections to relax the platysma, skin-tightening therapies, or targeted fat reduction, while moderate to severe cases often require surgical correction such as platysmaplasty or a neck lift, sometimes combined with liposuction to refine the jawline. Recovery time, risks, and the choice of procedure vary by the individual, so a clinical assessment helps determine the most appropriate approach.
