Tubular Breast Deformity

Tubular Breast Deformity

Tubular breast deformity is a congenital condition in which the breast has a narrow, constricted base that produces an elongated or tube-like appearance and often causes enlargement or herniation of the areola. Severity ranges from mild asymmetry and cosmetic concerns to more pronounced deformity that can affect clothing fit, breastfeeding, and self-image.

Evaluation involves a clinical examination and discussion of aesthetic and functional goals; treatment is surgical in most cases and may include glandular reshaping, radial scoring, areolar reduction, and the use of implants or fat grafting to expand the lower pole and create a rounded contour. Procedures are frequently staged and sometimes performed on both breasts to improve symmetry, with a recovery period of weeks and routine follow-up to monitor healing and outcomes.
